Learning through music!

Why are music activities so important for children?
Engaging in musical circles, playing instruments, participating in gymnastics to music, and singing are fun activities during which children discover the joy of creativity. In this article, we’ll talk about why music lessons have become an integral part of the curriculum in our preschool!

Music and speech
Melodies, rhythms, and sounds contribute to the development of auditory perception in kids, laying the foundation for speech development. Additionally, music classes foster a conducive environment for social interactions. Singing together or dancing in groups enhances children’s communication skills, enabling them to not only perceive but also respond to various sounds, thereby practicing their communication skills. This is also the easiest way to learn a foreign language, as it is through songs that children quickly memorize English words and expressions.

Music and intelligence
Research shows that musical exercises give children a broader outlook and help develop creative thinking, which has a positive impact on their overall growth. Music lessons require kids to memorize lyrics, melodies, and rhythms, fostering memory development and attention improvement as they learn to concentrate on sounds. That’s exactly why children tend to grasp rules more easily when they’re presented in the form of songs. Music becomes not only a means of creative expression but also a powerful tool for cultivating cognitive skills.

Music and emotional development
Music serves as a universal language that has the power to convey a diverse array of emotions. Engaging in musical activities, children learn to feel, empathize, be sincere, and open from a very early age. Even infants, who may not have started to talk yet, can react to melodies through laughter, crying, or facial expressions. Music can be joyful, sad, and exciting — kids, listening to compositions, experience these feelings and learn to understand them, which enriches their emotional intelligence. Melodies also calm children down, helping them relieve tension and relax.

Musical activities in the everyday lives of children are not only opportunities for fun but also tools for harmonious and comprehensive development. They bring joy, inspiration, and skills into children’s worlds that they will use throughout their lives. That’s why at the Montessori Hub, music lessons are integrated into the schedule every day!
